In this edition of our employee spotlight series, we get to learn more about Dakota Steele, our amazing Quality Associate here at Capital Steel & Wire. Join us as we dive into Dakota’s thoughts on his job, his cool hobbies, and what makes him such an awesome part of our team!

How many years have you worked at Capital Steel & Wire?

I have worked at Capital Steel & Wire for four years now!

What do you enjoy most about working at CSW?

What I enjoy most about working at CSW would have to be the multitude of learning experiences it offers on a day-to-day basis! The dynamic environment constantly pushes me to expand my skills and stay engaged within my work.

What drew you to this field, and how did you get started?

What had drawn me to this certain field would have to be my prior experience with CNC machines which helped aid me learn quickly within our saw department. I started in our saw department at our Eden Rd. location in 2021 and eventually got the role of supervisor!

Tell us about your favorite work-related memory!

My favorite work-related memory would have to be CSW’s 20th Anniversary. I was freshly in my position and being able to experience something that great really showed me how much this company appreciates every individual that works here.

What are you most proud of from your time at CSW?

One thing that I am most proud of from my time at CSW would have to be everything I have been able to accomplish within my various roles.

What’s a long-term professional goal you’re currently working towards, and what steps are you taking to achieve it?

A long-term professional goal I am working towards is taking Core Tool Classes to further my knowledge when it comes to APQP, PPAP, & PFMEA.

If you could give one piece of career advice to your younger self, what would it be?

If I could give one piece of career advice I would give to my younger self it would have to be, always listen to others’ opinions and take in all different forms of training even when you think you know the process.

If you could master any skill instantly, what would it be?

If I could master any skill instantly it would have to be programming CNC machines, I choose this because it has always had my interest but seems very difficult to learn.

If you could have any three people, dead or alive, over for dinner, who would they be?

If I could have any three people over for dinner it would have to be, My Mother, Grandmother, and Grandfather! It would be great to see them all again.

What’s the most memorable live concert you’ve ever attended?

The most memorable live concert I have ever been to has to be Lost Lands 2024! I went for 5 days and loved every second of it besides leaving!

What’s something on your bucket list you haven’t done yet?

Something on my bucket list I haven’t been able to check off yet is fishing for sockeye salmon in Alaska! It has always been a dream of mine since a kid.

Do you have any pets? If so, tell us about them, and include some photos!

Yes! I have a cat named, Ash! He is the sweetest cat I have ever had and enjoys going for walks outside.

If you could bring back any fashion trend, what would it be?

If I could bring back any fashion trend it would have to be baggy pants, even though it sort of is already coming back!

What is your favorite meal?

My all-time favorite meal is stuffed green peppers! I would eat them every day if I could.

What is your favorite movie, album, or book? Or all three!

My favorite movie/book is Percy Jackson & The Olympians! My all-time favorite album is the Shady LP by Eminem!

What is your favorite hobby to do outside of work?

My favorite hobby outside of work is fishing! I go just about every day it is nice out!
